FAQ & MANUAL

Japati News System distribution contains:

  1. Japati Client (for users)
  2. Japati Manager (for news poster)
  3. Japati Admin (for first time setting database)
  4. Japati Push Service (to deliver news across network as push service)
  5. Database Schema "db_japati.backup"

Japari System is using PostgreSQL 8 database that can be downloaded for free at www.postgresql.com

 

Server Installation

  1. After you installed PostgreSQL, run pgAdmin, select server and create database, for example "db_japati".
  2. Right click on database you already created then select "Restore".
  3. Browse for file "db_japati.backup" from distribution then click OK.
  4. Install Japati Admin to Server then run Japati Admin.
  5. In Japati Admin, please provide server name or IP, port (default is 5432), database name ("db_japati"), database user and password.
  6. If you purchased license key, please insert it on "Enter License Key" button.
  7. Click "Set Admin Account" button then choose Japati Authentication if you plan to use Japati with manual user & password or choose SSO (Single Sign-On) if you plan to user Japati with Network user account. Fill login name/domain user name with who will become Japati Administrator name, by default it's filled with "admin" or by your user name.
  8. If you plan to use Japati with Network user name, click "Set Network Authentication (SSO Only)" button and insert your domain name, you can insert multiple domain name if your network connected with multiple domain.
  9. Click "Generate Client Key" button, save this file in the same folder as Japati Client and Japati Manager, this file is needed every time Japati Client and Japati Manager want to be installed.
  10. Server is Ready!

 

Japati Manager

  1. Make sure you already have "clientkey.dat" that generated from Japati Admin (see Server Installation step for this detail)
  2. Install Japati Manager and run it by administrator account.
  3. As Admin you should be able to create/edit/delete News Categories, User Groups and Poster Member.
  4. Insert all news categories e.g. Daily News, IT News, Security News, Maintenance News, etc.
  5. Insert user groups (generally will be named with Department Name), e.g. IT Dept, Finance Dept, Marketing Dept, Manager, etc.
  6. Add users account in "User Groups" tab, you can add single user or list.
  7. Open "Poster Member" tab and add some member e.g. "Daily News Writer, IT News Writer, Security News Writer, etc" and after you made Poster Member, you need to check-mark Category on the right side and click Apply Button
  8. Go back to "User Group" tab, double click user name that you want to set as poster member, then select poster member on the drop down box.
  9. If you set Japati Manager with SSO and want to set every unlisted new user into certain user group, open preferences, check-mark "Auto add new user" on "Single Sign-On Users (Global)".
  10. Japati Configuration is Ready
